Understanding the Qur\u2019an requires not only engaging with its message, but also becoming familiar with the disciplines developed by Muslim scholars to preserve, interpret, and reflect upon it.<\/p>\n<p>This course offers a structured introduction to the Qur\u2019an and the classical sciences developed around it (<strong>\u02bfUlum al-Qur\u2019an<\/strong>). Students will explore the history of revelation, the compilation and preservation of the Qur\u2019an, its organization and themes, and the scholarly methods used to understand its meanings.<\/p>\n<p>Key topics include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Makki and Madani revelations<\/li>\n<li>Occasions of revelation (asb\u0101b al-nuz\u016bl)<\/li>\n<li>Qur\u2019anic recitation and preservation<\/li>\n<li>The science of tafs\u012br<\/li>\n<li>The role of translation in accessing the Qur\u2019an<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Designed as a hybrid between an academic introduction and a reflective community class, the course aims to build foundational knowledge while cultivating a deeper relationship with the Qur\u2019an.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Course Details<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Instructor:<\/strong>\u00a0Dr. Daoud Nassimi<\/li>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0ADAMS Ashburn<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\u00a0Thursday evenings, after maghreb (adjusts with prayer times)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Start Date:<\/strong>\u00a0April 16, 2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>Duration:<\/strong>\u00a0Approximately 12 sessions (with scheduled breaks)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Who Should Attend<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Adults interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the Qur\u2019an and its sciences.
